Process

How a Netherlands visa application from Pakistan works with xVisa

  1. Choose your category and centres

Tourism, Business, Family & friends or another short-stay purpose — and which of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore you can reach.

  2. Get your Netherlands checklist

Built for Pakistani applicants (CNIC, NADRA FRC, FBR returns, bank statements) and your category. You fill in the Dutch online form; we can check the whole file before the appointment.

  3. We watch VFS for you

Every centre you chose, in your category: an alert as soon as we see a date, or a booking in your name on AutoBooking.

  4. Attend VFS Global in person

Hand in your documents, give fingerprints and pay the visa fee in rupees. You receive a reference number to track your file.

  5. The Dutch decide

About 25 calendar days on average, up to 45. Then collect your passport or have it couriered.

Fees

Netherlands visa fee from Pakistan — and what xVisa costs

Expect up to three separate payments: the Dutch visa fee, the VFS Global service charge and, if you choose our help, the xVisa fee. Each goes to a different party, so we list them one by one instead of quoting a single bundled price.

No visa fee for children under 6, pupils and students travelling for their studies (and accompanying teachers), researchers, people aged 25 or under representing a non-profit at a sporting, cultural or educational event, and eligible family members of EU/EEA or Swiss nationals. The VFS charge still applies.

  • The appointment wait depends on the VFS calendar for your category: the live table shows how far ahead the earliest dates are.
  • About 25 calendar days on average from the day the Dutch consular service receives your documents and passport, and up to 45 days if your file needs extra checks or documents, or in busy periods.
  • Apply no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before you travel (seafarers: up to 9 months ahead). With appointment lead times of several weeks (see the live table) plus up to 45 days for the decision, we suggest starting about three months before your flight.

Where to apply

VFS Global, the Dutch embassy and who decides your visa

Many applicants search for the "Dutch embassy in Pakistan", but a short-stay Schengen visa is not lodged at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Islamabad. You apply through VFS Global, which runs the Netherlands visa application centres in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore: that is where you hand in your documents, give fingerprints and pay the visa fee. The decision is made by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its consular service. The embassy in Islamabad takes long-stay (MVV) appointments and is the contact if something on an issued visa is wrong.

Types of visa

Netherlands short-stay visa categories at VFS in Pakistan

You book the appointment under one category, and it must match the main purpose of your trip — VFS won't accept an appointment booked under the wrong one.

Tourism

A holiday or sightseeing trip (VFS lists it as "Tourist"): itinerary, accommodation and proof of funds.

Business

Meetings, trade fairs or conferences, with an invitation from the Dutch company.

Visiting family & friends

A host in the Netherlands: proof of relationship, plus sponsorship or private-accommodation documents.

Other short-stay purposes

Medical treatment, official visits, study/training, sports, seafarers (who may apply up to 9 months ahead), airport transit, and visa facilitation for family members of EU/EEA or Swiss nationals (no visa fee).

Documents

Netherlands visa documents for Pakistani applicants

VFS Global publishes a separate Netherlands checklist for each purpose of travel, and the Pakistan lists ask for local documents you won't find on a generic Schengen list: a copy of your CNIC, a NADRA Family Registration Certificate in English, FBR tax return acknowledgements and your NTN certificate. Take the checklist itself to the appointment, together with the documents.

We generate your checklist for your category and situation. Requirements change, so check the final list on VFS Global's Netherlands page for Pakistan before your appointment.
