If you live in India and need a short-stay (Type C) Schengen visa, you apply through the consulate of your main destination country, and you book your appointment at a VFS Global, BLS International or TLScontact centre. xVisa monitors availability at those centres across India around the clock, catches the earliest appointment with AutoBooking, checks your documents against consulate rules and supports you until the decision. The consulate decides the visa; we take the searching and the stress off your plate. On an Indian passport, or on a foreign passport with legal residence in India — you can apply through the application centres in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and more. xVisa watches every relevant centre at once, takes the first appointment that fits and prepares your file to consulate standards. Honest service, the same for everyone: no queue-jumping and no priority slots for sale.

Schengen visa from India — by country

Apply for a Schengen visa from India with xVisa — visa centres, document checklists, appointment booking and end-to-end support, by destination.

Appointments

Can't find an appointment? Let's catch an earlier date.

Schengen appointments from India fill up fast: at popular consulates, dates can close within minutes of opening, and some centres show "waitlist" for weeks. Refreshing the VFS Global, BLS International and TLScontact pages by hand, every day, is exhausting — and it usually leads nowhere. xVisa watches every relevant centre for you, around the clock. The moment a date opens, AutoBooking catches the earliest appointment that fits; you just prepare your documents and we handle the rest. We show you the honest status of each route — including when it's still "Monitoring" — instead of vague "we'll sort it fast" promises.

We do not guarantee a specific slot or date, and we never sell queue-jumping or priority slots.

Fees

Fees: Schengen visa fee from India and the xVisa service fee

Your total cost has three parts: the consulate visa fee, the application-centre service charge, and (if you use it) the xVisa service fee. The Schengen visa fee for India is set in euros and paid in rupees at the reference exchange rate.

Application-centre service charge (VFS Global / BLS International / TLScontact) — Varies by centre and country — Stated on the centre's website/office.

No hidden fees.

Official fees and centre charges change — verify on the consulate/centre website before applying.

  • Short-stay Schengen visas are usually decided within about 15 calendar days after your biometrics appointment; in peak periods this can stretch to 45 days. You can apply up to 6 months before your trip. Finding the appointment is a separate matter — the real bottleneck from India is usually the appointment, not the processing.
  • Apply as early as possible and leave a buffer.
  • Appointments are scarcer in peak season (summer, holidays) — act early.
  • To reduce the appointment-side delay, let xVisa monitor availability for you.
  • Your Schengen visa validity and the number of days you may stay are printed on the visa sticker; a short-stay visa typically allows up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Actual validity is decided by the consulate.
  • These times are informational and vary by consulate; they are not a guarantee.

Eligibility

Who can apply from India?

Eligibility and required residence documents vary by consulate — confirm the exact list with the consulate.

You're eligible if you are one of the following
  • An Indian citizen resident in India who needs a short-stay (Type C) Schengen visa. Indian passport holders need a Schengen visa for short trips — India is not a visa-exempt country, so ETIAS does not apply to Indian citizens.
  • A holder of another country's passport with valid legal residence in India (for example, a long-stay India visa or an OCI cardholder).
  • Traveling for tourism, business or a conference, a family/friend visit, or a short event.
This service is not for you if
  • You do not have legal residence in India (applications are generally made from your country of residence).
  • You need a long-stay (Type D) national visa for stays over 90 days, work or study — that is a different process.

The basics

An end-to-end Schengen visa service for people in India

xVisa is an end-to-end service for anyone applying for a short-stay Schengen visa from India: we find the earliest appointment, prepare your application file to consulate rules and support you until the decision. This is not just an app that pings you when a slot appears — it's a team that stays with you through the whole application.

We are an independent service; we are not affiliated with VFS Global, BLS International, TLScontact or any consulate.

  • People living in India traveling to the Schengen area for tourism, business, a conference, or to visit family and friends.
  • Indian passport holders, and holders of other passports with valid legal residence in India.
  • IT and business professionals traveling for client meetings, conferences or events — a common Schengen scenario for Indian applicants, often on tight timelines.
  • Anyone struggling to find an appointment, or who wants the process done accurately and on time.

Where to apply

Which Schengen country should you apply through?

The rule is clear: apply to the consulate of your main destination — the country where you'll spend the most nights. If nights are equal, apply to the country of first entry. A country you only transit through does not count as the "main destination".

Example 1 — clear main destination

5 nights in France, 1 night in Belgium → apply through the French consulate (in India, France is handled by VFS Global; the French embassy in Delhi is the deciding consulate for the north).

Example 2 — equal nights

3 nights in the Netherlands, 3 nights in Germany, first landing in Amsterdam → apply through the Netherlands (first entry).

Documents

Documents you need (checklist) and common mistakes

The exact list varies by country and purpose — always verify on the relevant consulate's website.

  • Valid passport (at least 3 months' validity after your trip, issued within the last 10 years).
  • Proof of residence in India (where required).
  • Fully completed application form.
  • Travel medical insurance (minimum €30,000 coverage).
  • A biometric photo to Schengen photo requirementsrecent, colour, neutral light background, roughly 35×45 mm, full face, no filters.
  • Round-trip flight/itinerary and accommodation booking.
  • Proof of funds (bank statements, etc.).
  • Cover/invitation letter (recommended; important for business and family visits).

Most common mistakes that lead to refusal

  • Insufficient or inconsistent financial documents.
  • Insurance coverage too low or not covering the whole trip.
  • Accommodation/itinerary that doesn't match the application dates.
  • Applying through the wrong country (breaking the main-destination rule).
  • Booking the appointment too late, so there isn't enough time before the trip.
