To get a Denmark Schengen visa from Turkey, you first complete the online application and pay the visa fee on ApplyVisa, then hand in your documents and give biometrics at a VFS Global centre in Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul (Beyoğlu) or Izmir; the visa section of the Embassy of Denmark in Ankara makes the decision. xVisa watches every Denmark centre in Turkey, books the earliest date that fits your plans and checks your file before you go. Apply early: the embassy says decisions currently take far longer than its standard 15 days.

Process

From ApplyVisa to the embassy's decision: five steps for Denmark

  1. Share your trip

Travel dates, purpose, the centres you can get to, and your nationality and residence status in Turkey.

  2. Get the Denmark checklist for your category

Short Stay – Others, Family Visit or Business, with the Turkish records each one needs.

  3. Complete ApplyVisa

You fill in the online form; we go through your answers and documents with you before you pay the Danish visa fee by card and submit, then you print and sign the cover letter.

  4. We secure the VFS date

AutoBooking takes the earliest Denmark slot at any centre on your list; on slot monitoring you get an alert and book it yourself.

  5. Hand in, then wait for Ankara

Attend in person for fingerprints and document check-in; your passport stays with the file until the embassy decides.

Fees

What a Denmark visa from Turkey costs — three payments, three payees

You pay three parties, separately: Denmark's visa fee online by card on ApplyVisa, VFS Global's service charge at the centre, and, if you use us, the xVisa fee for monitoring, booking and the document check. We never add them up into one figure.

The Danish visa fee is paid online by card on ApplyVisa, at the moment you submit the form

The VFS service charge is paid at the centre; the current amount is shown on VFS Global's Denmark page for Türkiye

If the visa is refused, the visa fee and the VFS charge are not returned; the Danish foreign ministry states this on its visa page

Up to eight people, such as a family, can apply as a group on ApplyVisa and pay all visa fees in one payment

After AutoBooking secures your date, the rest of our fee is due through a payment link within 24 hours, otherwise the appointment is cancelled. Our full terms, including when the upfront payment comes back, are on the Refund Policy page.

In a notice it updates every week, the embassy says it is processing applications, roughly three months after they arrive, and cannot speed up individual cases, except for urgent reasons such as official meetings or serious illness of close family in Denmark.

  • How many days away the first open Denmark date is changes daily and differs from centre to centre.
  • Up to 15 calendar days for a complete file, and up to 45 when further checks or the Danish Immigration Service are involved. The clock starts when the embassy registers your file, not on the day you visit VFS, and transport from the centre to Ankara adds a day or two.
  • Apply no earlier than six months before your trip and no later than 15 days before it; with the current backlog, aim for the start of that window.

Proof & honesty

What we do on your Denmark file, and what we never do

What we do

  • Watch Denmark dates at every centre in Turkey and, on the full service, book the first date that suits your trip
  • Review your ApplyVisa answers and documents against the Denmark checklist for your category
  • Explain which Denmark category fits your trip and what it needs
  • Stay with you in chat until the embassy decides

What we never do

  • Sell "express" handling: no agent or service can speed up the embassy's decision
  • Resell, trade or hold back appointment slots
  • Claim a link to VFS Global or the Danish Embassy, or any say in the visa decision
  • Guarantee a visa, an appointment date or a processing time

xVisa is an independent visa assistance service operated by TREVOR PHILIPS LTD, registered in England & Wales (company no. 14986978). We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for VFS Global, the Embassy of Denmark or any government body. The decision on your visa rests solely with the Danish authorities: the Embassy of Denmark in Ankara, or the Danish Immigration Service when the embassy refers a case to it.

Appointments

Denmark dates at VFS come and go — let us catch the right one

The embassy itself warns that Denmark appointments at VFS in Turkey can be hard to get at short notice. Instead of reloading the booking page, give us your travel window and the centres you can reach: slot monitoring alerts you when a Denmark date opens, and with the full service AutoBooking books it for you. An earlier appointment also starts the embassy's clock sooner, because processing only begins once your file is registered in Ankara.

Where to apply

ApplyVisa, VFS Global and the embassy in Ankara: who does what

A Denmark application from Turkey passes through three hands: you start online on ApplyVisa, you hand in the file at a VFS Global centre, and the Embassy of Denmark in Ankara decides. The embassy does not take applications at its own door, and neither does Denmark's office in Istanbul; if you are looking for the "Danish consulate in Istanbul" to apply for a visa, the place you need is the VFS centre in Beyoğlu. Apply to Denmark when it is your main destination: where you will spend the most days, or where the main purpose of the trip lies; if the days are equal, where you first enter the Schengen area. If most of your nights will be in Norway or Finland, apply for their visa instead.

Start online: ApplyVisa

Register, complete the form, pay the visa fee by card, then print and sign the cover letter. Families and groups of up to eight can apply and pay together.

Hand in: a VFS Global centre

Only the applicant goes inside. Fingerprints are taken unless you gave them for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months, and children under 12 give none. Your passport stays with the file.

Decide: the embassy in Ankara

The visa section assesses the file under the EU Visa Code and Danish guidelines, may ask for more documents, and does not answer status inquiries.

Types of visa

Which Denmark category to pick at VFS in Turkey

VFS lists five Denmark categories in Turkey, in English and Turkish. The first three are short-stay Schengen visas, the subject of this page. Pick by the purpose of your trip; the checklist follows the category.

Short Stay – Others (Diğer Kısa Dönem)

Tourism and most other short visits: sightseeing, culture, sport, medical treatment. It is the category our users choose most often.

Short Stay – Family Visits (Kısa Dönem – Aile Ziyareti)

Visiting relatives or friends who live in Denmark; you will need their signed invitation.

Short Stay – Business Visit (Kısa Dönem – İş Seyahati)

Meetings, fairs, negotiations and other short business trips that need no Danish work permit. Bring the Danish company's signed invitation; employees of companies accredited under Denmark's Red Carpet programme also bring a Red Carpet cover letter and need no prior VFS appointment.

Residence permit (Oturum İzni)

Biometrics for Danish work, family or study permits. A long-stay route, not a Schengen visa.

Re-entry permits (Geri Dönüş İzinleri)

For holders of a Danish residence permit who need to return. Not a Schengen visa either.

No visa needed

Turkish special (green), service and diplomatic passport holders can visit Denmark and Iceland for up to 90 days without a visa. Some Turkish employees sent by a Turkish company to deliver a short service in Denmark, such as installing a machine, may not need a visa under the Soysal ruling, but only if the job needs no Danish work permit, lasts no more than 90 days and the route does not pass through other Schengen countries apart from Germany or the Netherlands; check with the Danish Immigration Service before relying on it.

Documents

Denmark visa documents from Turkey: the checklist plus the Turkish records

Start from the VFS checklist for your category. On top of the usual Schengen papers, the Denmark lists used in Turkey ask for Turkish official records, and most of them must carry a readable QR code. We match the list to your situation; the final word is always the VFS checklist in force on your appointment day.

  • ApplyVisa cover letterprinted, signed and dated, with the fee-payment page
  • Passportissued within the last 10 years, valid at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, with 2 blank pages; plus a copy
  • One photo3.5 × 4.5 cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months
  • Travel medical insurancevalid in every Schengen state for your full dates, with at least €30,000 cover; the Turkish checklists also ask that COVID-19 is not excluded
  • Bank statements for 3 monthsstamped and signed by the bank; needed even when someone else pays for the trip
  • Full civil registry extractTurkish citizens: tam vukuatlı nüfus kayıt örneği showing parents, siblings, spouse and children, with a QR code for verification; other nationals: the equivalent civil registry extract or family book from their own country
  • Entry–exit recordyurda giriş-çıkış belgesi from e-Devlet or the police
  • Travel plana flight or other travel reservation that can be verified, with a booking number or PNR, and your hotel booking or your host's address; the Danish Immigration Service advises against buying tickets before the visa is issued
  • Employeesemployer letter addressed to the Embassy (role, start date, leave dates, paid or unpaid), payslips for 3 months, and the SGK service record and SGK employment statement with QR codes
  • Business ownerstrade registry gazette, activity certificate (faaliyet belgesi), chamber registration, tax statement and company bank statements for 3 months
  • Studentsstudent certificate; university students need the YÖK document with a QR code
  • Retireesproof of pension
  • Family visits and business tripssigned, dated invitation issued within the last 6 months, stating purpose, length of stay and who pays; for private visits the host can use form VU2, which is recommended but not mandatory
  • Non-Turkish nationalsTurkish residence permit valid at least 3 months beyond your planned exit from the Schengen area
  • Childrennotarised consent from a parent who is not travelling, and proof of sole custody where it applies
  • Previous visascopies of earlier Schengen visas and stamps, if you have them

Common mistakes

  • Arriving at VFS without the signed ApplyVisa cover letter: the online form and fee payment come first, and the letter is part of the file.
  • Applying to Denmark when another Schengen country is the main destination: decide by where you will spend the most days or what the trip is mainly for.
  • e-Devlet printouts without a readable QR code, or an entry–exit record that does not cover the full period asked for.
  • Putting someone else's email or phone on the application: the embassy contacts applicants directly and may not reach you otherwise.
  • Buying fixed, non-refundable tickets before the decision: with the current backlog in Ankara, the travel date is the part most likely to move.
