If you legally live in the UK, you apply for a short-stay (Type C) France Schengen visa through TLScontact — France's visa application partner in the UK, not VFS — and the French consulate makes the decision. You book a TLScontact appointment in London, Manchester or Edinburgh, attend in person for biometrics and submit your documents.

Fees
France Schengen visa fee from the UK & the xVisa price
Your France visa cost is the government fee, plus any TLScontact charge, plus the xVisa service for booking your appointment and preparing your file. The price is the same for everyone — you pay for the work and the appointment, never for "priority". The three amounts stay separate; we don't roll them into one headline figure.
- AutoBooking takes the earliest TLScontact slot across London, Manchester and Edinburgh: median ~4 days from request to a booked appointment.
- A short-stay France Schengen visa is usually decided within about 15 calendar days of your appointment, longer in peak season.
- You can apply up to 6 months before you travel. Apply early: France appointments in the UK can be scarce.

What we do
- Book TLScontact appointments on your behalf, honestly and fairly.
- Prepare complete, error-checked France applications.
- Show real, data-based wait times — including "no dates" when that's the truth.
What we never do
- Sell queue-jumping or "premium" slots.
- Claim to influence the French consulate's decision.
- Guarantee a visa or a specific appointment date.
xVisa is an independent visa assistance service operated by TREVOR PHILIPS LTD · Registered in England & Wales · Company no. 14986978 · VAT GB465562175. Not affiliated with TLScontact, VFS Global, France-Visas or the French consulate.

Appointments
France visa appointment in the UK — get an earlier slot
France appointments at TLScontact London, Manchester and Edinburgh get snapped up fast — most of all before summer, half-term and the Christmas break, when France is the most-requested Schengen route out of the UK. Instead of sitting on three TLScontact calendars hoping a slot drops, xVisa's AutoBooking watches all three around the clock and secures the earliest France appointment that fits your dates — and pings you the moment dates reopen.
Types of visa
Types of France Schengen visa & purpose of visit
Most travellers from the UK apply for a short-stay (Type C) France Schengen visa. Which one fits depends on your purpose of visit — the documents and cover letter change with it, and xVisa tailors your checklist to the right type.
Tourism
A holiday or sightseeing in France: itinerary, accommodation and proof of funds.
Business
Meetings, a conference or an event, plus an invitation letter from the French company.
Visiting family & friends
A host in France, plus an invitation and, where the visit is private, the host's attestation d'accueil (accommodation certificate).
Documents
France visa requirements & documents (from the UK)
A France Schengen visa from the UK needs a valid passport, proof that you legally live in the UK, the France-Visas application form, travel medical insurance with at least €30,000 cover, a Schengen-spec photo, a return itinerary, your accommodation in France and proof of funds — with a cover letter recommended. The items below sit on top of the shared Schengen checklist; the ones in bold are the France-specific ones people miss.
- Passport valid 3+ months beyond your return date, with 2 blank pages.
- Proof of UK residence (BRP / visa / settled status) valid 3+ months beyond return.
- Completed France-Visas application form
- Schengen-spec photo.
- Travel medical insurance, min €30,000 cover
- Return flight itinerary.
- Accommodation in Francehotel booking, or a host's attestation d'accueil for a private stay.
- Proof of funds (bank statements).
- Cover letter setting out your France itinerary.
- Employment / study proof, where relevant.
Common mistakes when applying for France from the UK
- Assuming France uses VFS. In the UK, France is handled by TLScontact, not VFS Global — a mix-up that sends applicants to the wrong centre and the wrong booking system.
- Applying to France when it isn't your main destination. Apply to the country where you'll spend the most nights (or your first point of entry if nights are split evenly). Book France only when France is that country.
- Forgetting the host's attestation d'accueil for a private family/friend stay — a hotel booking won't stand in for it.
- Under-insuring. Travel medical cover below €30,000 is a common refusal reason.
- Booking one centre only. London, Manchester and Edinburgh open dates at different times — checking just one leaves earlier slots on the table. (This is exactly what AutoBooking removes.)
- Leaving it late. France is one of the busiest Schengen routes from the UK; appointments before summer and the holidays go first.
