Whatever passport you hold — if you legally live in the US on a green card, work or study visa, you apply for a short-stay (Type C) Schengen visa here, through the consulate of your main destination. Appointments are booked at an application centre — usually BLS International, VFS Global or TLScontact, depending on the country. xVisa monitors those centres around the clock, catches the earliest appointment with AutoBooking, checks your documents against consulate rules and supports you to a decision. The consulate decides the visa; we take the appointment hunt and the paperwork stress off your plate. (If you hold a US passport you do not need a Schengen visa — see eligibility below.) Living in the US as a non-citizen? Green card, H-1B, F-1, J-1 or another status — you can apply for Schengen through the application centre serving your consulate, in cities like Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. xVisa watches every centre at once, takes the first date that fits and prepares your file to consulate standards. Honest service, the same for everyone: no queue-jumping, no priority slots for sale.

Schengen visa from the USA — by country

Apply for a Schengen visa from United States with xVisa — visa centres, document checklists, appointment booking and end-to-end support, by destination.

Appointments

Can't find an appointment? Let's catch an earlier date.

Schengen appointments from the US fill up fast: popular consulates can close a date the moment it opens, and many centres sit on "waitlist" or show nothing for weeks. Refreshing three different centre pages every day is exhausting — and usually gets you nowhere. Instead, xVisa scans every relevant centre for you, 24/7. When a date opens, AutoBooking catches the earliest one that fits; you just prepare your documents and we handle the rest. We show you the real status — how quickly we typically secure a slot (Booking Speed) and how far ahead the earliest date sits (Appointment Lead) — with honest states like "Monitoring" when nothing is open, instead of vague "we'll sort it fast" promises.

We do not guarantee a specific slot or date; we do not jump the queue or sell priority slots.

Why xVisa

Why US applicants choose xVisa

Earliest appointment with AutoBooking

We compare every centre and automatically catch the first available date.

Real wait-time data

We show how quickly we typically secure a slot (Booking Speed) and how far ahead the earliest date is (Appointment Lead) — with honest "Monitoring / No data" states when nothing's open. Neither slot-alert apps nor traditional agencies show you this.

Document check

Every document is reviewed against consulate requirements before submission, cutting the risk of a missing or incorrect file.

Expert support

Ask real specialists your questions throughout the process.

Fair & transparent

The same service for everyone; no queue-jumping, no priority selling, no slot trading.

Secure & independent

Your data is encrypted with AES-256, and the service is run by an independent, UK-based company.

Fees

Fees: the Schengen visa fee and the xVisa service fee

Your total cost has three parts: the consulate visa fee, the application-centre service fee, and (if you use it) the xVisa service fee.

No hidden fees.

Official fees and centre charges change — verify on the consulate/centre site before you apply.

  • Short-stay Schengen visas are usually decided within about 15 calendar days after the appointment; in busy periods this can extend to 45 days. You can apply at most 6 months before travel. Finding the appointment is a separate matter — the real bottleneck is usually the appointment, not the processing.
  • Apply as early as possible; leave a buffer.
  • In peak season (summer, public holidays) appointments get even scarcer — act early.
  • To cut the delay on the appointment side, xVisa monitors availability for you.
  • These times are informational and vary by consulate; they are not a guarantee.

Eligibility

Who can apply from the US?

Eligibility and the exact residence documents vary by consulate — confirm the precise list with the consulate.

You're a fit if
  • You legally live in the US (green card, or a valid US work/study visa such as H-1B, L, O, F-1, J-1) and carry a visa-required passport, and you want a short-stay (Type C) Schengen visa.
  • Your purpose is tourism, a business meeting, a family/friends visit, or a short event.
  • You have valid proof of US residence to apply from a US consulate/centre.
This service is not a fit if
  • You hold a US passport. US citizens are visa-exempt for short Schengen stays and do not need a Schengen visa — you will instead need an ETIAS travel authorisation (a quick online authorisation, not a visa) once the system launches. See our ETIAS guide rather than this service.
  • You do not have legal residence in the US (you normally apply from the country where you legally live).
  • You need a long-stay (Type D) national visa — for stays over 90 days, work or study — which is a different process.

The basics

An end-to-end Schengen visa service for US residents

xVisa is an end-to-end service for people applying for a short-stay Schengen visa from the US: we find the earliest appointment, prepare your application file to consulate rules, and support you until a decision. This is more than a slot-alert app — it's a team that stays with you across the whole application.

We're independent; we're not affiliated with BLS International, VFS Global, TLScontact or any consulate.

  • People legally living in the US traveling to the Schengen area for tourism, business, family visits or short events.
  • Green-card holders and holders of a valid US visa (work, study or other status) who carry a visa-required passport.
  • Anyone struggling to find an appointment, or who wants the process done accurately and on time.

Where to apply

Which Schengen country should you apply through?

The rule is clear: apply to the consulate of your main destination (where you'll spend the most nights). If nights are equal, apply to your country of first entry. A country you only transit through does not count as your main destination.

Example 1 — clear main destination

5 nights in Italy, 1 night in France → Italy consulate.

Example 2 — equal nights

3 nights Austria, 3 nights Germany, first landing Vienna → Austria (first entry).

Documents

Documents you need (checklist) and common mistakes

The exact list varies by country and purpose — always verify on the relevant consulate's website.

  • Valid passport (valid at least 3 months beyond your travel, issued within the last 10 years).
  • Proof of legal US residencegreen card, or a valid US visa plus status document (e.g. I-797, I-20, DS-2019).
  • A completed, signed application form.
  • Travel medical insurance (minimum €30,000 coverage).
  • A Schengen-standard biometric photo that meets the photo requirements (size, background, recency).
  • Round-trip flight/route plan and accommodation booking.
  • Proof of financial means (bank statements, etc.).
  • Cover/invitation letter (recommended; important for business/family visits).

Most common reasons for refusal

  • Insufficient or inconsistent financial documents.
  • Insurance below the minimum or not covering the whole trip.
  • Accommodation/itinerary that doesn't match the application dates.
  • Applying through the wrong country (not following the main-destination rule).
  • Applying without valid US residence proof (a common pitfall for non-citizens).
  • Booking the appointment too late to leave enough time.
